I was born in 1985 in Yei, Central Equatoria State, South Sudan. I lost my father to the Sudan civil war in 1989. When I was 7 years old, in 1992, my uncle took me to live with him in Khartoum where I started formal education. At school, the main language of instruction was Arabic until High School.

I was born in 1989 in a refugee camp in Adjumani District, Uganda. My parents never received modern education, but as a child they preached to me the value of education in helping others.

My family was displaced to Khartoum, Sudan in the early 1980s due to the civil war in South Sudan. I was born in 1985 and grew up in the internally displaced camps around Khartoum that host people of South Sudan decent.
