Pediatric Hospital Construction
The construction of the 9,000 square feet pediatric hospital broke ground in September 2016. The hospital is located across from the Marilyn Miller Memorial Clinic. When completed, it will be the first modern pediatric hospital in South Sudan. The hospital will have 40 pediatric beds, 11 beds for new born babies, and 4 maternity recovery beds. The hospital will be staffed with qualified medical professionals whose primary focus will be the patients.
At the peak of construction, the hospital project was one of few sources of employment in Kajo Keji County, South Sudan and main source of tax revenue for the local authorities. The hospital construction plays a key role in stimulating the local economy, boosting family incomes, and nurturing construction talents that will be critical in the rebuilding efforts in South Sudan.
